How to use the Meta Tag & Open Graph Generator
- 1
Enter the page title, description and URL.
- 2
Add a share image (1200 × 630 pixels works everywhere).
- 3
Copy the tags into your page's head, then test the URL in each platform's share debugger.
Search tags vs. social tags
The title and meta description control how a page looks in Google. Open Graph tags control the card shown when someone shares the link on LinkedIn, Facebook, Slack or WhatsApp, and Twitter Card tags do the same on X. Without them, platforms guess, often picking the wrong image or text.
Getting the image right
The share image does most of the work:
- Use 1200 × 630 pixels (1.91:1)
- Keep text large and away from the edges
- Use an absolute https URL
- Keep the file under 5 MB
Canonical and robots
The canonical tag tells Google which URL is the main version of a page, which matters when the same content is reachable by several URLs. Robots noindex keeps a page out of search; use it for thank-you pages and internal search results, never for pages you want to rank.
Frequently asked questions
Do meta keywords still matter?
No. Google has ignored the meta keywords tag for years, so this generator leaves it out.
Why does my old image still show when I share?
Platforms cache share cards. Use the LinkedIn Post Inspector or Facebook Sharing Debugger to refresh them.
Do I need Twitter tags if I have Open Graph?
X falls back to Open Graph for most fields, but twitter:card is needed to get the large image layout.
Is my data stored?
No. Everything is generated in your browser.
